An ear perked. Someone was here. He could hear it, the gentle sloshing of someone wading through the ankle-deep water that flooded the floor. When he moved, the figure sloshed around too. When he stopped, whatever it was stopped a moment or two later. Strange. He kept moving though, a slow, careful walk, his footsteps muted atop the ice that froze under his feet with every step.
