[@the crafty pig] Well in Broacien you're expected to be 100% Monarchist, or else face shunning from society. We've not reached the time period yet where people start feeling enlightened and feel like they know more about god than the church. As such the church's power is still very large (as evidence from prince-priests) and church's word is law, even to a king. Luckily for the king he is Monarch on Earth, so he doesn't have to give too much of a shit. 

That said I do have some other question; how do you see him fitting into the plots? I mean, I like the idea of having camp followers but I find it hard to implement them into plots. After all I can hardly say 'oh yeah we have a random cook also standing guard today' so I need to know how I can implement him, if at all?
