Zoe took the can and the spoon that was handed to her, but put it below her nose and sniffed the contents before deciding whether it was edible or not. It didn’t smell bad, and while it could have looked more appetizing she was too hungry to care at the moment. She dug in, but kept an eye on Sienna as she checked the windows. What an understatement, Zoe thought and scoffed when Sienna said she needed to be a bit more careful out here. It wasn’t much better than the situation in the vault. At least she had more freedom out here and could carve out her own haven given time. Maybe it would be beneficial for her to be the aggressor next time, before someone got the jump on her again. She smirked when Sienna said it was about nothing else than what someone could do for you, and what you could do for them. What did she want Zoe to do for her then? It was doubtful she’d picked her to come with her out of the good of her heart. No, she didn’t think that was likely at all. “Nope, never.” Zoe confirmed, once more. She wasn’t honestly expecting to find much in Sydney, especially not if the other cursed survivors of humanity were drawn to it. It made her less eager to go there in the first place. Perhaps there was some kind of hidden oasis waiting for her somewhere else? She smiled briefly, but shrugged the silly thought away. A girl could dream. “I left alone.” She put the can down on the floor, and pushed it away from herself. She didn’t want to accidentally sleep on it during the night. “There were quite a few of us before then. Maybe thirty or so. I don’t think anyone followed me though.” Zoe listened with half an ear to Sienna’s story about her own experience of leaving home. It wasn’t like their experiences were all that similar. For one, Sienna had left unwillingly and Zoe had escaped by her own free will. Secondly, Zoe’s family had died years before she left. Well, other than her brother, but she didn’t want to count him as part of her family. “Or they just wanted to get rid of you.” She mumbled, having closed her eyes and leaned back against the propped up pillow. “There were children stories in the vault about how parents got rid of children that were too much of an annoyance or problem to keep.” She smiled to herself, amused, even if they had had those stories just to keep children in line in the vault. Sienna was partly correct in assuming that Zoe thought she was going to kill her. She had been thinking that earlier, but now she was more concerned about what the woman actually wanted with her. It had to be something else, like she said she could have killed her already, or tried too if nothing else. “Gut feeling?” Zoe answered, disinterested, and pulled her blankets tighter around herself. At the same time she moved her hand below them towards her rifle, in case Sienna was going to go off because she didn’t bother giving more of an answer. “I’d like to get some sleep, if you don’t mind.”
