Ebon opened his attack by calling forth ten R-Types, all Arrowheads. He could tell from Gren's weapon that he had a lot of fire power, but Ebon doubt that Gren could shoot down individual R-Types if they were buzzing around him. But Ebon had to be careful too; Gren only needed to take him out to take out the R-Types. Which was why as soon as the R-types flew out to gun down Gren, Ebon hid behind his shield and got ready for the faunas to try to charge at him.

The ten R-Types split into three separate squadrons: One group of five, one group of three, and one pair. Even though they all had the same armament each squadron had a different purpose. Squad one, largest, would strafe around Gren and constantly harass him with gunfire. Squad two were the heavy hitters and would charge their shots for maximum damage. They would be used tactically, targeting things like Gren's weapon if he started to get an advantage on Ebon. The last two were auxiliary; just there in case Ebon needed them for something specific. They were all constantly moving and shooting, with Ebon controlling them to dodge if Gren does decide to try to thin them out.
