It makes you seem less... You're know I'm your friend, but I'm going to say it as others would see it.

But such phrasing makes you sound dumb. 
"Slow your roll." works better than saying "Cool downs." because it makes no sense outside of an rpgs. The only time it makes sense is when talking about abilities.
