[@pyroman] I think that was more their way of trying to address the Fusing problem they must of been meeting as they fought against the rebellion, we can see from Jasper that Homeworld Gems look down upon Fusion. If the rebellion was using it to their advantage it is only natural that Homeworld would want to see if they could too.
