Well, Karn's mom died when she was young and his father and brother either ignored or abuse him. Then he went off and lived in the wild with Ru and Rian. Both tried teaching him but he was pretty hopeless xD

Edo-Karn had a similar issue, but she's more logical and naturally clever. 

Same with Prince. XD Prince is clever, but he just acts goofy all the time.
