Yeah, it'll definitely still be useful, but a bit more situational. Him being for Iris, it's definitely fitting.
As a side-note though, something like that would definitely be Akarian made. Possibly it was a gift to his family from some Akarian diplomat?

As for who would actually carry a sword around, I think really only military types (mostly as a decorative thing, but they're not fake. Sometimes they actually have to use those!) or anyone from the Iris isles would carry an actual sword as opposed to just a knife or an axe or something. I could see someone from Shaq'ir with one too, but they'd more likely be [i]curved. Swords.[/i]

@Ezekail: My one complaint is that someone from Rhys (yeah, Rhysian works) most likely wouldn't be getting a fancy education like that what with the constant revolutions thingy it's got going, though I suppose there's a chance that one ruler managed to stay in power long enough to get colleges going. Or maybe the college was privately run in a more remote location. You might also want to say why they've decided to join up with a gang of vigilantes too.
