Because Jack had cut the piece off Max could hear better. He had heard what Jack had said about growing the shell from the body. Max had to think about it, and the more he thought about the more it made sense. His body was the only diamond around so where else could he get it from. Now Max tried to get out of the shell. There was a rumble and a loud crack and Max was free. The two shells were on either side of Max. They were real Diamonds and since they were in clustered together, they were heavy. Max stared at the two shells and then at Jack. Max had a smile on his face because he had never done anything like this before, he was speechless.
