Histroy: Mathias was born into a poor family and even before his magic revealed itself he struggled. His father was an awful man, who had spent much of his time gambling and drinking rather than attempt to provide for his family, and Mathias had no love for him. His mother however was the best thing in his life, and she constantly told him he would be greater one day. When he was around 13, his powers developed and he assumed this was the sign she had promised him, and she protected his secret without a second thought. It wasn't long before his father decided he could profit off of Mathias' magic and put him to work using his abilities for illegal purposes. Despite this he had managed to keep his abilities a secret and his family was making something money. Unfortunately, his father had continued gambling and owed money to a group of mobsters who came to make an example of him after he couldn't pay, and figured killing Mathias was the way to do this. Tragically His mother took the bullet for him, and he was helpless as held her dying form. In his anguish and rage, his powers unwittingly called forth a demon that killed everyone else in the room including his father, and leaving Mathias the sole survivor. To make matters worse the demon bonded with him in an attempt to corrupt him. A week later while he was on the run he got his letter from the five elementals and decided the school was the best bet at dealing with the demon.
