Whenever Elnarin tells other people that he's an elf, most people just scoff and say ' yeah, whatever '. He is an elf, but due to the fact that that he and his family have lived so far away from others and in dark places, they developed features that aren't exactly what one would consider ' normal ' for elf kind. Regardless of what other people say though, he's proud of his species and heritage and practices nearly every day ( sometimes multiple times a day ) with his bow. This practice has paid off in getting him meals and winning local tournaments.

On the other side of things, when he isn't practicing or hunting, he is stuck babysitting his bratty little brothers who like to tell Elnarin that his soul mate is going to be some hideous creature with 3 eyes or have extra appendages. These musings have gotten said brats in more than one fix, because if they irritate him enough, he will string them up and watch the animals investigate them for about an hour before taking them down. His parents obviously don't approve of his actions, but he isn't hurting them so his mother doesn't scold him too much. In the back of her mind, she too knows that they need a little more discipline in their lives ( but Elnarin's father; who is a human, says that it's normal behavior and they'll grow out of it soon. ).

Since Elnarin and his mother Llamryl have never really experienced the daily thought processes of young humans, they aren't really sure what to think; which is why Llamryl hopes that her son's soul mate ( whether they be male or female ) will know how to raise the children from their species and won't run into as many hiccups as she has with raising Hagas and Kellam. Elnarin himself was a very quiet child because his father died when he was really little and his mother didn't meet Kevin until he was almost 8. As such, he had to teach himself pretty much everything and still can't really quite grasp the human language of English, but he understands Elvish quite well. So if you start talking to him and he looks at you like you've grown a second head, it's probably because he can't understand you; or what your trying to say.

What Elnarin feels the most when he thinks about the rapidly approaching date on his wrist ( which he keeps hidden under a glove ), is unease. It's one thing to have an interest in them and try to get closer to them, but when someone is that other half of you, it tends to get more than a little unnerving. He does hope that they won't mind his tendency to not wear a shirt, because it's easier to make his way around his hometown without having to worry about getting the fabric snagged on something.
