Everyone in RP's seems to play a 15-18 year old, invariably.

Most of my characters are between 21-30, with a few being outside that for certain situations (1x superhero school RP where I was a 17yr old girl, 1x Post Apocalyptic RP where I was over 30 man). I gauge that to be because I in fact....... 28.
So therefore it's easier for me to play an older character.

I assume it's the same for a 15 year old. How can a 15 year old understand the emotions and feelings a fully grown adult will experience, and then understand them enough to create a character and roleplay that adult like character?

This is a very good point too.

Like, once you become an adult you can understand a whole range of shit. If your a relatively rounded person (and I think most creative people are at the very least well aware of the world), then you have developed empathy and an understanding of a whole lot of shit. But teenagers? They are still growing mentally. They haven't quite fully developed empathy, and so they can only truly feel a limited range of conditions.

Hell, for me at 25, its easier to RP people in their sixties and seventies than it is to roleplay non-adults because the range of development for adolescents and children is so limited, and it is way too easy to look back on your own experience in childhood and accidentally project your adult personality into that.

@Vilageidiotx I found that when I did play the younger character I found it VERY hard since most of what I learnt back in the early years and the way I did things is completely different to kids these days. Something as simple as owning a mobile phone before 17, and a smart phone at that (The good old unbreakable Nokias).

Don't wanna sound like a geriatric but if I was to enter a Slice of Life School RP, I just don't think I could actually do it and create a comfortable character that I would enjoy.

I wrote one seriously fucked-up kid in a powers school RP once. The first post was fantastic -- some of my best ever. Everything after that was god awful.
