[@WendigoRoss] When it comes to contacting another, it will depend on who is near you. Do you mean to ask who is interested in doing so you can choose where specifically to start? I say it this way as I don't see a location on map mentioned in your entry sheet. Just to note, for future reference, no civilization knows of other species having a civilization at the start and translations can be a slow process. As for your first post specifically, it starts as an interesting introduction hinting at a focus on economic growth and exploration in the name of it as well as a story about a family. Although I think the formatting is a little rough (i.e. paragraph breaking up) and the post can be more detailed, it's not too bad for a first post in my opinion. I would say try to add more details, and not just on the exploration but also on things happening within the civilization. This can take practice, though. Once again, I think it's a good start. Here are some tips that I can think of that don't necessarily apply to anyone in particular, and this can apply to anyone including me: - Be detailed enough where it's clear, but not so much where it's overwhelming - Read the rules, especially if you haven't already - An attack in game doesn't approve hatred outside of it - A civilization is complex, and the world more so. There's a lot that can happen, including things humans wouldn't do - Be willing to modify a post - The goal is not to win - Research writing tips. One of my favorites is: Show, don't tell. To be specific with it, explain how the civilization works and how its people live, not just tell it outright with things like - Read other posts as well, even if they don't apply to you. They can give ideas. But remember what you know and what your race could are not always matching - Use [@] if applicable to let someone know they are being talked to - Somewhere on an IC post, include some explanation of things like technological progress, and relations [@Valkyr] On the image, eerie, but interesting. On contact, fair enough. I'll respond when you do. For now, nothing happening to the Platta relies on the Northern camp, so there isn't a rush here.
