Name: August Lim • Age: 16 • Gender: Male • Appearance: August has short, spiky black hair, brown slightly almond-shaped eyes and olive-toned skin. He's rather short at only around five feet tall minus shoes and both his legs, his feet and his chest are covered in faded surgical scars. His hands have become calloused from martial arts training and sword practice, and while his clothing tends to vary as soon as he can change it to match the current world, he's almost always carrying the Space Sword and a silver and black metal walking cane. • Method of Travel: Use of the Space Sword sharpened to the point that it can cut temporary holes in the fabric of the Multiverse. • Powers: Metalcrafting ala The Codex Alera via a Shard of Araris Valerian, granting August a sort of spiritual connection with metal. This power has two main manifestations. The more obvious half of the powerset allows him to sense and have limited control over metal, feeling the metal around him almost as if it was an extension of himself in addition to the ability to manipulate the durability, sharpness and other physical properties of metal. August can even reshape and physically manipulate metal through this spiritual link to a limited degree. The less obvious half of Metalcrafting is more internal in nature. As long as August has some physical contact with metal, he can summon up inhuman reserves of willpower and endurance, going for days without any need for rest or food, completely ignoring pain or weakness as long as his body can still function. This indomitable willpower also allows him to focus his thoughts with razor sharp analytical clarity and shield his mind from psychic attacks and manipulations. Combined with the experiences of the man within August's Shard, August is capable of being a swordsman and warrior of impossible abilities though he's not without weaknesses. Using his superhuman endurance at a very low level also allows him to walk and run normally despite his disabilities. As far as equipment, August primarily uses his metal cane as a less lethal substitute for a sword as his control over and spiritual fusion with metal enables him to make it durable and fast enough to serve as a formidable weapon while still retaining its' utilitarian nature. Sokka's former Space Sword is primarily used for multiversal travel, though he will use the sword for combat if a situation becomes dangerous enough. The Space Sword once belonged to Sokka and August was only able to find it among the ruins and regrowth of the Wudang Forest by sensing its' unique metallic properties. While it's already supernaturally sharp and durable, with August's will focused through it the Space Sword becomes sharp enough to cut through the very fabrics of the multiverse and enable him to travel where he wills. • Personality: After a life of relative seclusion and feeling trapped both by circumstance and the flaws of his own body, August is thrilled to be able to adventure across the multiverse to all different sorts of worlds. He's even more thrilled that the worlds he's exploring are the very works of fiction that he used to keep himself sane and occupied for so many years. The fact that he can occasionally try and do some real good for those in need as he does so is just icing on the cake for him. That said, he dislikes violence and killing for the most part though his training both at his family's insistence before he became a multiversal traveler and afterwards by Araris means he is more than capable in a fight. That said, a lifetime of relative weakness and his own nature have left him more inclined towards finding peaceful or less brute force solutions. Overall, August is more concerned with just exploring the multiverse and adventuring in a life of his own than anything, but if people are in trouble he's more than willing to step up to help them. • Starting World: Avatar • Backstory: Up until recently, August's life was fairly placid with the exception of martial arts training to try and strengthen his body. All of that changed when he tripped during a walk and coincidentally fell through an opening portal. Though he was briefly knocked out for a time, when he awakened he had already absorbed a shard and found himself in the middle of a battlefield where elemental forces were being hurled left and right. Rather than terror and panic that he supposed most other people would feel in that sort of situation he found himself exhilarated, especially when the instructor housed within his Shard showed him how to use his new abilities to cover for his own issues. From then on out he decided to explore the world while helping out those in need and during his travels he eventually was able to find Sokka's Space Sword through a combination of his knowledge of that world and his metal-sensing abilities. Purely by accident he discovered that if he sharpened the already supernaturally keen sword to its' utmost peak of sharpness it became capable of carving temporary pathways between worlds. Ever since then he's been wandering the multiverse, both to explore and to try and help others where needed.
