Some people just don't understand what a friend is, and I bet we can blame Facebook for adding a counter to how many friends you own.

There's two sides to this, though.  While you're right - the line of "friend" has been blurred by social media, I think some people just naturally have a looser definition of the term.  I have lots of friends on the forums and off the forums that I don't have nearby in real life.  I care about them and we're very personal.  But I'm not the type to need that physical connection to somebody to feel a connection to them.  I'm not going to get all weird or anything, but I consider my friendships a lot like the law.  Rather than being innocent until proven guilty, you're a friend until proven [i]asshole.[/i] XD But I digress...

So...  I guess this means we're not friends...? :'(
