Before I get into my RP idea, first some rules. 1. My usual posting frequency is 3-4 posts every week. I'm pretty busy at work most of the time, but I may post more if I'm really inspired. I expect something along those lines from my partners. Anything less than that from my end, and I will give notification for the reason, usually in advance. 2. I consider my posts 'free-casual quality'. I only occasionally give one-liners, usually if my characters are in conversation or combat, and I'm just trying to progress things while still giving my partner a chance to react to things. If I'm having difficulty coming up with something to write, I might put up a short post just to inch things forward, since I prefer that to letting an RP sit there and get stale. I usually have decent 1-2 paragraph-length posts though. 3. I have very few limits really, but I'm not looking for smut right now (unless you ask really nicely). Our characters can have romances, but it won't get into smut, so this frees up age restrictions for characters. I am ok RPing abusive relationships if we do something dark, but I don't want to glorify abusive relationships. Rape, coercion, lack of consent, etc. should not be considered 'normal, acceptable, human behavior', and I will not easily forgive or sympathize with abusers. They can be well-written, vital characters, but don't sugarcoat the severity of their crimes. 4. I'm kind of a grammar Nazi, but mostly to myself. If you can get your point across, I'll probably be ok with it. [hr] Now onto the good stuff. I'm looking for a magical girl (and boy) RP. One that's hopefully not too grim-dark. while I enjoyed the anime Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, I recognize its problematic elements and that it has unfortunately spawned a wave of 'dark magical girl' anime. While I'm all for drama and pain, I think it's become a little tiring (and very sexist) to see young girls suffer for our entertainment over and over again. It's not like classical magical girl anime didn't have drama and pain. A lighthearted anime can have as much depth as a 'dark and gritty' one. That said, if our RP heads towards being dark, that's fine, I just don't want it to get to a point where we are torturing our characters for some perverse enjoyment. Sorry for getting a little political there. Anyways, now I'm going to list out some ideas I had. These are just potential ideas, feel free to add your own or reject the ones I have here since I would like to world-build with you, create a team of 4-6 magical girls (or boys!), figure out their theme and rules for powers, what enemies they're fighting, setting, etc. 1. Magical girls in space. It's the future with high tech, scifi, space travel, and stuff, but the eldritch denizens of space make space travel difficult, and only cybernetically enhanced (sufficiently advanced science is indistinguishable from magic) children can stave off the alien madness. Our characters would be assigned to a colony ship on its way to a distant alien planet while the horrors come a-knockin'. 2. Cute pet mentors. Not exactly a twist, you say? Well, what if that pet used to be human, or someone the magical person knew but doesn't recognize, and who, for various reasons, cannot reveal who they are or chooses not to? This could fit with the above idea if a human mind was transferred into the body of a robot pet or something. 3. Philosophy. In the same vein, we can explore deeper ideas, specifically, transhumanism: the belief or theory that the human race can evolve beyond its current physical and mental limitations, especially by means of science and technology. How much humanity are we willing to give up to either improve ourselves, or simply to survive against terrors that seek to overwhelm us? 4. I enjoy romance, but since our characters will be children, let's keep it to kissing, puppy love, and dating or whatever. I can RP in forums or PMs as you like. [hr] That's pretty much it, so I'll add a few more tidbits. I'm a cis-het male and play both genders though I may veer towards asexual orientation. I have been told that I play a specific female archetype very well. I have no qualms playing characters in any relationship or orientation, and I generally play multiple characters. I honestly don't take my character's sexual orientation into account when designing or playing my characters, so they often come out as ambiguously bi or simply non-sexual. This may be because I veer towards asexual, or maybe it comes from a cis-het place of privilege where I've never had to worry about my sexual orientation in the first place. If you're non-gender binary, I hope nothing I've said is offensive, I'm still slowly learning. I think that's it. If I've left anything out, please ask me. PM me or reply here!
