I've used linux casually, had a few of my computers make a shift. That said, it's quite good if you aren't relying on mostly windows native programs and gaming... although if you use those things you might be in trouble for compatability reasons.

Even wine can't make em all work. Some programs just don't.

One suggestion is to see about making stuff as familiar in options as on the windows side so you can at least navigate and put basic console commands (yes, chances are you need those...) in a text document, along with other notes ya want to keep.
