Moral Alignment: Hero Affiliation: SHIELD and the good guys. Character Origin and Backstory: Valkyrie is a heroine who has hosted many spirits, those amongst them being Brunnhilde the Warrior of Asgard and Amora/the Enchantress to name but a few. This time around the Valkyrie plays host to the reincarnated Goddess of Fidelity, Sigyn. Daughter to Freya, Niece to Gaea. And eventual Wife to Loki and Mother of his children. Born into the vassal of who would have been the mortal Samantha Parrington. SIGYN’S PAST LIFE The Gods, so moved by her unwavering loyalty, endurance and determination right up until the end of days, the Ragnarok, decided to grant her a second chance on Earth. There she would be their Messenger, their Warrior of justice and their Hope of continuing on Asgardian legacy. During her time on Asgard, before she perished along with most Asgardians, she was a captivating beauty and all-round animal lover. She loved to sing Asgardian songs in her angelic voice, she cared for war orphans and she healed injured soldiers. Although, born a Vanir, she was desired by many Asgardian men, and even the God Loki himself. Instead of refusing his advances, she accepted Loki’s affections instead as she was only arranged to marry Theodric but did not love him. After all, who could resist that charismatic grin? Therein begins her undying love and loyalty to the God of Mischief. And she there she would stay with him until the very end, even enduring his cruelness and tragedy. That is when Odin gave her the title - the Goddess of Fidelity. Just before the coming of Ragnarok, Gaea entrusted her to protect the Younger Gods. And during this time is where she befriended Amora, the Enchantress. Amora sought to manipulate her into helping taking Lady Sif out of the equation so that she could be with Thor instead. Upon realising, Sigyn refused to betray her sister in arms Sif. And so Amora became her sworn enemy. Alas, she remembers nothing of her past life, centuries ago. She only catches mere glimpses at a vague past life through a dream state or occasional visions. Her new life is on Earth now. THE VALKYRIE - A NEW LIFE The Gods watched as a human baby girl emerged into the world – to the Parringtons. And as their chosen name for her lay on the tip of their tongue, before they could name her Samantha, the Gods intervened all they heard was all they heard was Victory, Victory, Victory. The name Sigyn meat victorious and thus her name was chosen to be the same in Latin. They spoke the name Victoria… and instead of retaining her golden locks, her hair turned darker to like that of Sigyn’s. Born to wealthy family of eccentric philanthropists, the Parringtons, and good friends to the Stark family. The young Lady Victoria dedicated her spare time to charity along with her parents. As a child she always had a strong sense of justice. At her parent’s dismay, she wanted to join the police force at a young age to tackle drugs and crime; she had a decent enough IQ too. So the first chance she got she studied criminology and psychology to be able to get into investigation and after schooling she entered the Police Academy as a teenager. It was there she found something strange, being that her flesh was 3 times as dense as a humans but it had never been tested until now. She possessed extreme endurance, she passed all physical activity with flying colours, and nothing fatigued her for an hour or so; she was very good at fighting off men twice her size and held her own, despite her feminine physique. It wasn’t long before she was moved to a Special Ops division in the British government (MI6) where only the most experienced combat agents go. She went undercover, busted drug lords, and cleaned up the streets. She loved her job. Nothing could compare to the thrill of the chase and being in close proximity of death. It was then that SHIELD picked up on her special skills. Under SHIELD’s wings, she grew as an agent and her sense of justice growing with it. She got on well with the female and male agents alike she’d never let any man touch her, she’d developed trust issues with men that she just could not explain, and the only man she could trust and depend on was Captain America. Very quickly SHIELD noticed that she never came back with a scratch. And when she was shot for the first time and healed completely by the next day, they pulled her in for a full examination. Everything about her, human. No X-gene, no nothing. She just assumed the government had enhanced her somehow, of hearing stories in the past with super soldiers. But they did nothing of the sort. She was born with her ever growing powers. And day by day she grew stronger until 2011 she fully discovered she was not entirely human…as an entity inside grew deep within her… Her shoulder blades burned and she was tired every single day as if she’d not slept all night. Unbeknownst to her, that at night whilst she slept, her subconscious Asgardian spirit awoken. The Valkyrie appeared, only ever to be seen at night, watching over the city with brilliant white wings of light emanating from her back. This caused rumours - “do Angels walks amongst us?” in the tabloids. She paid them no mind until SHIELD showed her CCTV footage of her bedroom. There lay her sleeping physical body and, as if sleepwalking, awoke and stood up. Somehow, her nightdress magically transformed into silver plated armour and a sword (Dragonfang) appeared in her hand. At this point she didn’t have physical white feathered wings that flew, only two wings of spiritual light glowing sprouted from her blades. And the only thing expressed from this entity was sadness on her face and a single tear, yet still every bit as graceful as a flower. It was then decided she needed specialised training at SHIELD with THE Captain America, Black Widow and the other SHIELD operatives. And the Gods thought it was time to unleash the full might of their chosen Valkyrie… Powers and abilities: Asgardian – she has the same powers as Sigyn’s magical spirit healing properties and can give her life force to others. She has some tarns-mutational powers similar to Loki; she can transform into her armour and summon her weapons from the Ether like he can. She also has conventional Asgardian attributes such as super human strength, agility, vitality, resistance to injury and disease, also with the added Valkyrie iconic wings to aid her (as she doesn’t have the winged horse to ride in Midgard!) Resurrection - Like all Valkyries, she can perceive and sense the coming of Death. She can see a "deathglow" surrounding a person who is in serious danger of dying, although most Asgardians and humans cannot see the glow. A person surrounded by the deathglow might still be saved from dying. She can transport herself and a dying or dead person from the Earth dimension to an other dimensional realm of the dead, just by willing herself to do so. She can also return through an act of will. Weapons: -Dragonfang: The blade was fashioned from a tooth of an extra-dimensional dragon. The sword was bestowed upon her by the Gods. Sword Attributes: -Indestructible. -Magic absorption: Dragonfang absorbs force when comes into contact with blood. -Capable of destroying mystical barriers: Dragonfang is actually capable of shattering mystical barriers. -An iron spear and heater shaped shield; instead of the Viking like round. Her swordplay is of Asgardian style and her prowess is only matched by that of Lady Sif, she can lift 45 tonnes compared to the average Asgardian who can lift 25t. Weaknesses: Loki. She is soul bound to him no matter what, destiny and fate – can they really be changed? Trust issues: She finds it hard to trust people, especially men. Constantly feels she has to take care of herself and she feels great loneliness. Heartbroken spirit: She pushed any potential love interests away in the past, in the fear they'd break her heart. But you cannot break a heart that's already broken. Maybe a new cause and adopted SHIELD family can help to mend it. Visions: She can become trance like state when having a vision of the past or even the future if the Gods wish her to see the people that need saving. She is their Saviour. Sample Story Arcs: A team grouping/Avengers Initiative etc: I would be very interested in teaming up, as Valkyrie was a part of the Lady Liberators and the Defenders. Thor/Loki/Asgardian lore: although she does not remember her past life, she would still find it a comfort to be around Lady Thor’s presence, being of the same kin. Depending if Thor/Loki do want her to remember the past, then she would hope Loki has turned over a new leaf as her loyalty to him has never once wavered. Might find it hard to trust him though. SHIELD/Cap America/Hawkeye: Can help carry out SHIELD missions, have friendships form with Cap and Hawkeye, taking down any baddies that require general thrashings and the like. The Hulk: Valkyrie's family try to help the Hulk in the comics and she was also used to fight him. Valkyrie can hold her own against him, so she could form a bond of trust with him and be able to talk him down. A potential 'Beauty and the Beast' maybe? Sample Post: DAY OF RECOKONING - “I've been having these weird thoughts lately...” Sora, Kingdom Hearts. “I look ridiculous.” Valkyrie stares at herself in the mirror, unamused. “I think it’s quite cute.” Maria Hill responded as she came to preview her colleague in her silver plated Valkyrian armour for the first time. Adorned fully over her arms and chest but with black spandex bodysuit underneath; leg plates only going up half way the thigh. It was too skimpy for her liking and uncomfortable to say the least. “I look like bloody Xena Warrior Princess…” Victoria scowls in her British accent, removing her winged metal helmet, holding it to her side and turning to Agent Hill. She sighs and gazes the floor. “How can anyone take me seriously in this thing? I look like I'm going up for sexiest medieval knight - swimsuit edition.” Maria chuckles, she forgot how witty her new found agent friend could be. “Oh dont be so worried. We can always change it to suit you. But YOUR own subconscious conjured up this thing, remember?” She pointed out as she took the helmet from Valkyrie's hands. “Yes and now I cant UNconjure it.” “Have you decided on a name for yourself yet, V?” Maria asks as she began to help her out of the armoured plating that seemed to detach easily. Victoria lifts her eyes up pensively. “V....” Her nickname. Everybody called her it. “V for...Valkyrie.” She knew that was the one. “I look like a Norse angel of death.” She expresses as she looks hers legs over, by bending her knee up slightly. “Oooh dont say it like that, it's scary.” Maria shudders at the 5'8” woman as she helps remove her other bracer. “Is it wrong..that I want people to be a little scared of me? Otherwise how are they going to address me, Maria? 'Hey baby, sweetcheeks, dollface how bout you show us your backstroke?'” Victoria mimics a sexist male with sarcasm as she rolls her eyes, unbuckling the main belt piece. “You'll get a lot of that off men because you're very pretty.” Agent Hill puts her hands on her hips. “I get it ALL the time, until I punch them in the gut. That tends to make them shut up.” “I can see why Director Fury likes having you as his wingwoman, Agent Hill.” Victoria smiles for the first time in a long time. A sincere, warm smile that could comfort just about anyone. “He sure does. He's confident when tough lil' cookies like us have his back.” Maria smiles back, she herself rarely smiled. She took herself way too seriously. It seemed she and Agent Parrington had much in common. “Hey y'know what...I dont usually go out much but I say we have a girls night out. What do you say, Valkyrie? Has a nice ring to it.” Victoria's eyes light up, but then quickly dims again. “But I'm not allowed out of SHIELD HQ yet am I? They still don't know what I am...imagine if I blew up a building with people in it or something weird..” She walks over to her dressing table and plonks herself on the stool. “I'm sure you wont.” Maria reassures her. “On purpose.” She had to add, as a joke. Victoria looks up at her, almost horrified. “It was a JOKE, okay. Dont worry, I'll square with Fury, we'll have an escort in case anything DOES happen, and maybe Natasha can accompany us and we can just forget about men for one night.” Maria continues to persuade her with a wink. V could feel a sense of mischief welling up inside, she just could not refuse. “Alright.” She grins. ---- Later that night, Victoria, Maria and Natasha were painting the town BLACK. Maria and Natasha both in little black dresses, Victoria had a more modest white dress. It was in the nightclub downtown that the would be Valkyrie had to shut herself in the bathroom. Her shoulder blades were burning hotter than ever before, rendering her completely useless. Writhing in agony against the marble floor, her blades bulging. She heard her dress slowly ripping. She tried to hold in her cries of pain as she felt something emerge from her back, a feathery sort of touch. Watching blood trickle down her sides and drip onto the floor. She knew something was very, very wrong. Her tracker had not moved for an hour, Agents Hill and Romanov try to find her, eventually leading to the locked bathroom and a very long queue of girls that Mother Nature called upon. They bang on the door. “Victoria? Are you in there? Are you okay?” Maria yells through the door over the deafening death metal music. Natasha sighs at her then kicks the door in. There they find Victoria holding up her bloodied white dress around herself, and what looked like brilliant white angel wings. “Oh my god....” Maria gasps. SHIELD immediately retrieve her from the building and return her to HQ. As she sat in the medical bay with wings sprouted, and adorning a medical robe, she stares at the floor in shock. She just didnt understand. 'Sure could use Cap's inspiration right about now...' The agent thought. “Maybe I really AM a Valkyrie......” She lifts her head up slowly, her bright blue eyes glowing with whispy energies never seen in any mortal. “God. Why are you doing this to me...?” She weeps to herself. “My Child, do not relent.” A hazy apparition of a Goddess appears before her adorned in a golden long draped dress. It was Freya. Victoria gasps, she didnt know if it was real. “You have been chosen by the Gods, as our Salvation.” Freya's voice whispers gently through the air. “Who's salvation..?” V leans toward the woman and before she could get an answer the image disappeared. “WHO'S SALVATION?!?!” SHIELD agents watched her screaming at nothing and falling to her knees in emotional turmoil. “I think we have another one for Wilson...” Voiced director Nick Fury who was sat in on the viewing, throwing her confidential files onto the table before leaving the room. Victoria threw her face into her hands, her long wavy hair fraying out around her shoulders and wept. “I'm a monster......”
