Well, to start with, you tried to mention me by doing @NightmareInd, but you should put it between [], like this: [@NightmareInd]. This way I get a notification someone is talking to me. You can also just click the @mention button on any of my posts. 

You can also subscribe to your active topics. If I'm right, you wont get any email from it, so you wont get spammed, but you if you go to your subs tab, you can see all the topics you are subscribed to and don't need to search for them all the time. It also says when the last post was made per section, so its easy to see if it is worth checking it out.
