Mithias pressed his fingers into his forehead with his left elbow on the arm of his chair. One might think that the donated blood had given him a headache, but that was not the reason. He was a puzzle-solver and this dilemma was irksome. He inhaled sharply and put his hand to his chin as if he had an idea . "So, Dracula's soul or mind is within Lucian, and we want to keep Lucian alive. If that isn't going to be be possible, then it would be Praetor's responsibility, as someone supposedly immune to Dracula's possession, to dispatch the host of Dracula. Yet you propose another way, that we find a vampire with supreme psychic power to attack Dracula and force him out of Lucian or psychically destroy him outright. This vampire could be your sire, Praetor, yet it seems you have had no contact with him for a very, very long time. I hardly think going back to the place of your making is going to provide any kind of a lead, and even if it did, we sacrifice time." Mithias glanced to Trixie. "And if my perceptions are at all accurate, fair Trixie will have nothing to do with inquiring amongst the lycan. We could, as an alternative, use that same time to... to train Trixie to fight Dracula." Mithias looked around to see what the reactions were to this proposal. He elaborated bluntly. "If she can, and is willing to do this, then you, me, and she, will confront Lucian. Trixie will use her gift to attack Dracula. Praetor and I should be immune to being taken as hosts, and Dracula should fall to her psychic assault. If by some means Dracula jumps to me, Trixie can continue to attack him, or you and Trixie kill me, and Dracula is dead. If he jumps to Praetor, Trixie again continues her assault and I defend her... and if you can't fend off Dracula, Praetor, and we can't kill you, then the world is fucked anyway, so don't you dare let Dracula have you. Lastly, if Dracula jumps to Trixie, then Praetor and I are still immune, and we are no worse off then when Dracula was inside Lucian. In other words, we would just have to find an even more powerful psychic vampire while Trixie plays host. Or at that point, we could kill Trixie. Done. There is no scenario that Dracula could survive, except for by taking Praetor, and in that case, God save us. Jumping back to Lucian again would only free Trixie to attack once more. Who do you want to lose? Lucian or Beatrix? I suppose I am also in that pot." Mithias took a drink to that. "Now, if you are going to tell me that Dracula can exist without a body at all, then I have no idea why we are even having this discussion. There would be no way to kill him save for him chance meeting his match in the right vampire. If such a vampire exists with enough of the right gift to counter Dracula, then he or she will destroy Dracula when he becomes sufficiently annoying and we need not worry. If they don't exist, then well... there might not be a way to truly destroy Dracula, and we are fighting the inevitable." Mithias looked into his glass with a sigh. "Not to doubt Trixie, but I'm beginning to like the idea of socializing with lycans to find Praetor's maker. The hunt for Dracula's counter is our only option without having Praetor potentially slay someone."
