They have said many times that there are all sorts of unidentified magic out there. Maybe its some sort of trap in an ancient temple? Or some artifact created to hold powerful wizards? Maybe he falls into a another dimension where time flows differently? Those are just a few random possibilities I came up with.

If you reject this, don't worry about setting me back or anything. I have a different idea I can use.
