The unconscious can't hear people speaking to them.  It is a biological impossibility.  Jamie is being aggressively assertive.  Trying to argue that point would be ludicrous.  Sanders is indeed a level-headed man, thanks.  The hot-blooded are suited for the front lines; the calm and wise are suited for the command tent.

Also, fighting with Sanders would not be awesome in any way.  His magic alters probability.  If someone is attacking him and he doesn't want to fight, his first move would be something like raising the probability of him suddenly teleporting across the city to 75%.
