Sunspark, the black raven. 
His name is well deserved as he can act as a source of light in the dark. Edith has seen the shadows slink away from this light and suspects that it might even deter a Cimmerian. Patient and loving, Sunspark is often Edith's confidant. He is always quick to help Edith search through countless volumes of lore.

Edith had been the little girl that spent half her time fighting and the other half reading. Losing her gentle librarian mother to a Cimmerian at the tender age of 7 had left her angry and lonely. But the respect for literature was deeply instilled in Edith, and so she was voracious in her pursuit of books. Her early school years were marked with bruised bullies and bookmarked pages. At the age of 15, her sights fell upon a coveted tome that was to be held at Velirya University. Sure that she needed to read the book, Edith broke into the vaults of the university library despite the trouble she would find herself in if caught. She spent that entire night reading by candlelight. The High Professor of Lore was surprised to find a young girl asleep in the room of fantastic lore the next morning. Touched by the girl’s thirst for knowledge, he gently woke her and explained his proposed deal. If she would continue her studies at Velirya University, he wouldn’t turn her over to the authorities. Edith was quick to agree. 
All was smooth in Edith’s world until her eighteenth birthday. The water from the goblet urged her to avenger her mother’s death and join the Mercenaries. But Edith could not turn her back on the lore she was finally beginning to understand. So, Edith became the first person to ever turn down a calling to the Mercs to stay a Familiar at the university. Now, two and a half years later, her studies of lore have brought Edith closer to understanding the why, what, who, and how of this war.
