[@Kho] Sounds...dramatic :lol They "spied" to "win" a RP? That sort of thing is just ridiculous to me on a dozen levels. I suppose it's because I'm one of those people that would rather just plan out a story, agree on an outcome, and write it from there as compared to just wing it or write reactively.
When the fate of fictional 1860's Prussia is at stake, the fictional Bismarck will go to any length for victory. Even if that means using the guy playing Spain as a spy ^^' I honestly like reactive battles and RPing, it's more real and there's more effort in it. For instance, if you and I had gone into the Battle of Man's Fall with the outcome in mind, I doubt we would have been as creative as we were in that post, and we would probably not have utilised our forces as well as we did. Both of us knew that the battle could really go either way, so we RPed our hardest and when it became clear who the victor would be, the losing side accepted that without complaint and the winning side did so without fuss or pomp. I like that kind of RPing, but it's very rare to get two or more players in a room who will actually be so laid back in that regard, so planning out an outcome is just for the best in those situations.
