Before the outbreak, Camille was just starting college in order to become a doctor. He always wanted to be a doctor like his father was when he was a children. Weeks before the outbreak, he got accepted into the best college in Paris and was getting ready to move near the college. As he was finishing packing his things, the news of the outbreak spread to Paris and he hide inside his apartment. 

He hoped that the outbreak wouldn't hit France; but, it did hit France and Paris as people were dying daily. He didn't hear from his father until he called Camille. He told him that he was at an unknown location, trying to make a cure and that he must stay safe. He decided to get out of Paris and go to Reims and wait for the plague to end at some shelter. 

The shelter lasted for the year as he was the only one to find it and he decided to get out to the world and see it changed. The first thing he did was he went to Metz to see if his friend was still alive. While getting to Metz, he saw bandits and other horrible things during his travel. Then he got to Metz and found out that his friend left for Paris; but, he left something behind. Now, he didn't know what to do but to move forward.
