Whoops, I guess I should elaborate a bit more. I'll be sure to edit the original content:

[b]Mars Alliance Population[/b] is 30 billion, not all of humanity itself. Planet Earth population is 5 billion, Earth is a part of the Systems alliance, not the Mars Alliance.

The 2525 event is written poorly. The Mars alliance and Systems alliance claim war against the Covenant, and the Helghast and Mars Alliance never use conduits within their ranks. I'll be sure to fix that, sorry about that.
