When I went to grad school, it was part of our academic requirements for students to TA classes, so I'm just going off of personal experience.  And since I made Shizuka a relatively non-social person, I need to give her more exposure opportunities, meet new people, etc.

Since Amaya's majoring in Bio, and minoring in psychology, I'm guessing she's an undergraduate, since people generally don't 'minor' in graduate school.  That being the case, Shizuka probably wouldn't be dormmates with Amaya and is Amaya's TA in Matsuoka-sensei's undergraduate Biology class.  That means I get to grade your tests :hehe
