As she ran towards the house, Evee could hear the lumbering creature not far behind her. The girl stumbled up the stairs and grabbed the pepper spray she had stashed there earlier, whipping around to face the strange creature. “Stay back,” she yelled at the monster, her arm trembling as she wielded the spray in the general direction of its face. [i]’Where are its eyes?’[/i] she thought frantically, searching the beast’s face to no avail. [i]’No eyes. Will this even work on him?[/i] she thought a little hysterically, her hair whipping around in wind. The creature panted loudly, its hot breath making little puffs of fog in the rapidly cooling night air. “Jesus,” she whispered again, transfixed on its mean looking teeth. “Stay back,” she commands again, inching slowly back towards the door of her house.
