[@Flynn] The rangers had no skill to jump as the goblin did. They were too heavy and bigger. On the ground they were stealthy in there own way. Insuring not to disturb the plant life or leave a trail in the thawing ground. The rangers blended into the forest shadows well. Their grey skin helped the natural shadows and the black runes that were painted on them seemed to shift even more moon light off them. They made noise as they moved but to the untrained it sounded like the passing of a strong breeze in the surrounding brush. Only a creature trained to notice the orc scent in the air had any hope of noticing this group as it made its way east. By the end of the night the forest edge was behind you and the rolling hills leading to the mountain pass were ahead. The party couldn't go under because of the war between the dwarves and the dugar salve of the mind flayers. It had raged all winter and neither side was closer to victory. The only way was through the pass home of cave trolls. Or over the sheer cliffs covered in ice and snow.
