Well, I don't know how it's like in 'Murica, but I probably wouldn't settle for sleeping outside here in Canada without a tent or something because a) super cold and b) there are no bats to eat the gazillion mosquitoes (but that's probably our own fault for living literally not even a three minute walk away from a huge river). Backyard sleeping was only done in Kurdistan. Same with roofs, because the ones in Canada kind of sort of aren't flat, so, uh, rolling off would be a problem. XD
