This NPC is less here as a "character" and more here just so that, when you go to the market to buy and sell miscellaneous loot, you're not talking to a faceless merchant. As such, he is a one-dimensional piece of trash with less detail in his sheet than there is in this description of why I made him. He also might be able to give you better prices on magic weapons/armor than Hephaestus and potions than Thoth, if you raise your relationship with him high enough. Until then, though, you should probably stick to buying those specific things from the Gods. Use him well. I present to you, your merchant.
"That'll be twelve gold." Name: Tarou Tanaka Age: 25 Gender: Male Personality: Loves three things in this world: money, meat, and women, in that order. A horrible womanizer who is more obsessed with gold than any Old West prospector could imagine. To the end of pursuing those three things, he adopts traits deemed as necessary for this pursuit. There is no sense of development, or depth, or anything of that nature. He is a perfectly one-dimensional human being; any inkling of him being anything else is a misconception of his design, not unlike drawing a two-dimensional picture that seems to "pop" out of the page. Biography: As one could hopefully gather from his name, Tarou Tanaka's parents were unoriginal and boring people. As he was raised in such an environment, in which each day was as stagnant and uneventful as the next, Tarou took on the mindset of "fuck this shit". To this end, he stole his parents' money and ran away from home. Their entire life savings. They may or may not have starved as a result, but who knows, really? With that amount of capital as a base, Tarou took to buying and selling goods from other individuals, acting as an intermediary to skim profits off of the top. This worked surprisingly well. And then something about an ancient tomb being unsealed and beings beyond reason descending from the heavens happened, or whatever. Regardless, once Tarou had heard the word "treasure", he made the Labyrinth his focus, and partnered up with the most appropriate God for his own desires the very second he could. So here we are, I guess. Skills: Business Talent: Propensity for "capitalism, ho!". Negotiation, generation of income, and all the necessary abilities to keep a stable cashflow without leaving a store are inherent to him. The only real talent he has. Fisticuffs: Combat prowess is exemplary. At the peak of his abilities, with the blessings of his god magnifying his strength far beyond his base parameters, he is capable of besting a five-year old in single combat through skillful employment of "punching". Appraisal: Ability to gauge the value or worth of an object. If it can be sold, he can calculate a market price for it. Due to zero magic knowledge, the same as everyone else, this will understandably be far less accurate for magic items. Makes a hobby out of applying this to people; however, judging from how low he gives those values, he must be joking about it...probably. Running Like A Bitch: A last-ditch move of utmost desperation. The only tactic available when fighting monsters that defy common sense, such as six-year old children and above. Running form is actually very decent. Guild: Hermes Equipment: Magnifying glass, a small dagger, [s]enough capital to purchase a small African nation[/s] a sizable fortune in gold (2000), one bottle of wine.
