When the party stopped, I went to bed. At least, I tried to. My chandelier was in a thousand pieces and the bed felt no better than the glass on the floor, so I did what any bat-human hybrid would do, I left and found myself a perch right below a gargoyle. When I woke up, panicking crowds, hungering hordes, and cars winding through the chaos painted over my portrait of the dawn. I did my best to help. Away from the team, I was sure the Teen Titans of all people wouldn't need me at their defense. Some flying blue fool nearly impaled me with his helmet at one point. The disruption didn't stop me from diving down and pulling a class of schoolchildren to safety, depositing them atop a monument of modern art. They were afraid of me as the zombies however, and several fell to their deaths or into the arms of the undead. I tried to save them. Almost makes me want to cry. The few that were transformed walked on, still living momentarily. Although a few got the sharp end of Sentinel's 'sword', deceasing immediately at his might as though it were an obligation. But I kept on the move, raising people to safety, avoiding the killers, mercenary types, and demi-gods scrambling for control and a sense of importance in this mess. Me? I don't even want to be here anymore. Some of us could hear each other die. I would've loved to come save Lock & Load, but I was tied up rushing a nursing mother to safety. Then I realized how I'd been worse than useless away from the team. In fact, I heard the mighttiest heartbeat in the entire city spike and realized that none of us were cut out for this alone, not me, not even our lone wolf-powerhouse. So at great speed I flew, I used some conveniently nearby drilling equipment and I penetrated to the room where my fr-teammate was expiring. Skreee! At once, I gave the mightiest rip my lungs had ever felt, I swore I'd torn my larynx in half. But it was worth it. Mathematically so and otherwise. Knowing from the days experience I'd grow weak at lower proximity, I revealed from my pouch a sack of explosives I'd lifted from the Batcave days before and I tossed them all around the boy in the cape. "If we were completely different people this would be a precious moment, but you've got me for now! Come with me before I have no *cough* choice but to go. I need you, personally I need you to live."
