yes, it can look daunting, but most of those massive posts are written by multiple people after they really get entrenched into their characters. Honesty can be refreshing. In aftermath, we tend to be a bit stricter than most on character sheets, so we can be more lax after approval. All the GMs in there are fond of flawed characters. We operate most of all on a "quality over quantity" rule. We'd rather have two high-quality paragraphs where things happen than ten paragraphs with not much happening at all. There's no rush with aftermath. It'll be there tomorrow, it'll be there weeks from now.
