Name: Kara Kuri
Age: ??? All she'll say on the matter is "old enough, but not too old".
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Appearance: Whee. She almost always wears the goggles; her eyes are a dull green if anyone is curious.
Weapons: Kara is a formidable gadgeteer, seemingly able to turn any group of objects into some kind of device if given enough time and inspiration. However, her weapon of choice is her custom wooden bazooka. This weapon has been specially modified with the thought in mind that Kara won't always be able to find ammunition for it, and thus it is capable of firing anything that can fit into the ammo barrel. Thus, whilst gunpowder and explosives can be hard to come across at times, she can still fire rocks, fruit, driftwood, small animals, etc. She does have a special fondness for gunpowder, explosives and fireworks, though, and will not hesitate to use them if she gets her hands on them. Despite the fact that you'd expect them to have some kind of special function, her goggles really only do one thing: help fix her shortsightedness.

Once, Kara Kuri was a somewhat respected and relatively sane scientist, tasked by the World Government to make weapons for the Marines. Whilst her designs were a little unorthodox to say the least (one of her earlier designs was a trigger-operated, spring-loaded hammer), it was hard to argue with the rather devastating effects most of them produced, and thus she was eventually contracted by a rather prestigious member of the government. However, during a live weapons test, there was some unexpected complications involving a wrecking ball, a rotten egg, three sticks and a cheese wheel that led to said prestigious member of the World Government being launched into the sky and never coming back down. Naturally, this rather tarnished her reputation practically overnight, and she found all of her tools and works confiscated, and had to flee as soon as possible lest she feel the wrath of the Marines and the World Government. Somehow, she managed to escape to East Blue, but the experience had shattered her already rather fragile sanity. From that day forth, she dedicated her life to seeking revenge on the Marine captain who had made her a fugitive, the Marines in general, the World Government for not understanding her genius (and not providing her with a fresh egg)... Really, by this point she had descended into full-blown mad scientist territory. It's not entirely clear how long ago this all happened, with Kara's rather... Unreliable later accounts of the incident not helping much, but eventually whilst she stumbled across a rumour that piqued her interest. She'd heard all about the legendary One Piece before, of course; she even claims to have been present at Gold Roger's execution, but this rumour... Basically, she heard from a rather drunken and not exactly lucid source that One Piece was in fact an ancient doomsday device that the pirate king had hidden away to keep out of the wrong hands. Despite the rather sketchy and preposterous nature of this rumour, she took it to heart and decided to latch onto a pirate crew in the hopes of actually finding One Piece, and in the hope of using what she believed to be the ultimate weapon to hold the world for ransom in some rather petty revenge scheme against the World Government...
