A collab between merrrrideth and [@GingerBoi123]
Dominique rushed through the forest on horseback as fast as he could, making sure that at the same time he wasn't going through low hanging tree branches or the paths that were ideal for theives and cutpurses at the same time, more so for Edith's safety, he didn't really care about the paths he himself took. "We're 5 minutes away from base camp!" He informed Edith, loudly enough to be heard over the thundering gallop of the horse. Dom was quite impressed with himself and the horse for how quickly they were making their way to the encampment, however, even so he wasn't quite sure they'd make it. "Ok!" Edith yelled her acknowledgment to Dominique, hoping that he could hear her. She was starting to get nervous. The ride had been rough for her, but it paled in comparison to the task of explaining what she had found. The Circle would be populated with battle-hardened soldiers and new recruits alike, as well as the leaders of each Estuary. These would not be the young lords and ladies that she was use to teaching. Edith gulped as Sunspark squawked from her shoulder. Dominique had to turn the horse hard to the left, making him lean over a bit. He did it with ease and as long as Edith was in fact holding on then she should be fine. Well... maybe fine. Probably fine. Dominique was essentially at the home straight now, a small clearing ahead and then they would finally be there. However, the most alarming sight was that the darkness that polluted the sky was in full view. Everyday it grew closer, and everyday it reminded Dominique of his duty to protect man, woman and child. That reminder is what he hoped would aid his resolve. It was a frightening sight in the sky. Edith grabbed onto Dominique's belt even tighter as they made a hard left. She started to slip from the saddle, but managed to catch herself as they straigthened out. "I can horse... I can definitely horse," the young Familiar huffed under her breath. Edith could see the clearing ahead and the outskirts of the encampment. "I can see it!" she yelled. Dominique smirked at Edith's apparent excitement as the first sight of the camp came into view. "Yah!" He yelled, signalling the horse to go as fast as he could. Dominique was sure they would be in time now. Closer... closer... there! Dominique pulled back on the reigns, signalling to the horse to slow down. When they came to a stop, they were right in the middle of the camp. Dominique calmly slipped off the saddle and offered a hand to Edith. The camp was simultaneously exactly what Edith had imagined and yet entirely different, and she stared around in amazement. It took the young woman a moment to realize that Dom had offered her his hand. Hesitantly, she took his hand and tried to make a graceful dismount. Edith failed as she stumbled over her skirts, sending Sunspark jumping into the air. "I think I might need to work on that," she laughed, wiping her skirts off. The raven squawked in agreement. It was then that she realized that the encampment seemed relatively empty. "Has the Circle started already?" Dominique was pulling the horse by the reigns but pointed to one main tent. "If it's going to be anywhere, it'll be there." He stated, matter of factly. Dominique quickly went to the other side and pulled out the bag he had kept for Edith. "Here," he said as he offered the bag back. "I'll meet you inside." And with that, Dominique walked to the stables. Edith accepted her bag and then watched as Dominique walked away. She stood in place for a moment, at a loss for what to do next. Sunspark let out a loud squawk from across the way. "Right, you're always right," Edith yelled as she ran over to the main tent and through the tent doors. The room was full with people, so she found a place along the wall to wait for the Circle to begin. From where she was standing, Edith could see Dominique enter the tent after stabling the horse.
