To be fair, I run into a lot of native English speakers who can't spell well at all, either. School-mandated peer editing is evil, I tell you... 
I can generally understand what you're saying, though, so I'd say that you're doing pretty well for the most part. I guess I'll give some of those techniques a try, too. Maybe it'll help with my language learning.
