Hunter woke up to a metallic thud. He kept quiet, no matter what it was it may try to kill him. Hunter grabbed his bag and shotgun, He had to be ready fort a fight. He set the bag down on a table in the apartment room he was holed up in and started to take the riot armor off his bag. No idea what he was dealing with but he wasn't going to take chances. Though his armor had seen better days, Many of the pieces were damaged, the front torso piece had a small hole the size of a dime in it, and two dents similar too it. After he got the armor on he threw on his bag and made sure his gun was loaded, he had ammo but he was low. His remaining shells could fit into one box, and he hadn't found shells in months. Now that he thought about it he hadn't found much at all the last few weeks. Barely enough to survive on, and less everyday. Hunter walked into the hallway shotgun raised. He heard the cling sound again, from inside another apartment. Inside he found the remains of a camp, looked like it had been abandoned a while ago, but there were still supplies in it. With out thinking Hunter started grabbing everything he could carry and he threw it into his bag, he stopped when he heard a whimper. Hunter looked over to the noise and saw a little girl, maybe eight years old. She looked dirty, even for today's standards. Hunter wasn't sure how to react, so he raised his shotgun. "Don't move." He said quietly, the girl flinched in fear. Hunter lowered the gun, He wasn't about to kill a little girl who was alone, stranded, and that he had just robbed. He set down the gun and started walking to her. "Hey there, I'm, I'm friendly." He raised the visor on his helmet. "See? Just as human as you." He stopped moving when the girl jumped back in fear. "It's okay it's okay, I'm a soldier, I'm here to help." He paused then inched forward. "Where are your parents li-" He stopped, out of the corner of his eye he saw it, A dead one. Sitting there in the door way just barely turned away from the two. It looked like it had been there for some time, maybe even days. But there's no way it would have missed the kid... Unless. Just as the thought hit him the little girl jumped onto him sending Hunter on his back. He did what he could to stay quiet as to not disturb the dead one. Hunter was soon able to over power the girl as her jaw was locked on his arm piece. He turn the girl on her back and held her neck down with one arm well he reached for a knife with the other. Seconds later the girl was dead. He grabbed an axe and walked over to the dead one sitting in the apartment. Seemed fresh, as if it had died at most a few weeks ago. Maybe it was with the girl, maybe not. He decided to not think about it as he killed the beast and took what ever he could use from the camp.
