It has been 8 years since the Dark Knight was brutally murdered by the hands of Bane, Robin killed by the Joker. The allies of Batman all left the city in grief, some retired from their costumes and others searched the country for new purposes. Gotham has been ever since left alone to battle its own thugs, bank heists, and corruption in the political and police offices. 

Ever since Batman was killed, the other villains seemed to disappear as well. It is only the usual thugs and mercenaries, kingpins or rapists terrorizing the streets of Gotham. The people noticed that Batman's demise caused the threatening villains to disappear, so they no longer welcomed smalltime vigilantes or 'heroes'. 

A new threat is brewing however, and sightings of the Joker and other villains were reported in the outskirts of Gotham. A hidden community of rookie vigilantes and retired policemen with sense of justice decided it was time to finally come together and battle the upcoming threat. Powered by the inspiration created by the Dark Knight, these vigilantes would band together and bring a brighter future to the crumbling Gotham.

- Batman is dead. Robin is dead. All the other batfolks heroes and heroines have left Gotham. 

- Gotham hates vigilantes, 'heroes' is even a forbidden name. 

- Corrupt Police, politicians, and drug lords are populating the city. 

- For the last 2 years a few vigilantes have appeared, but nothing too big to gather more than a block in the paper's entertainment page. More a ridiculous rant than honest reporting. 

- All the other A list villains have disappeared with the Bat. However some of them are returning of recent. 

- Arkham Asylum was shut down two years after the Batman was killed, and the Wayne Enterprise is no longer a thing. 

- Commissioner Gordon is still around.

Characters created should be normal human beings, as in no magical or paranormal powers. Also extremely well trained or heavily gadgeted characters are discouraged. Keep them real in a sense, something lesser than Batman but with as much sense of justice. They should be flawed, they are striving to be better and make Gotham better.

Anything is accepted from guys in hockey pads, to old policemen coming out of retirement with a sense of old days justice. Take it easy on the costumes, this is Gotham.

We might have a few more players and characters around, so please be reasonable with the pace and magnitude of posts.

DON'T go on writing a three paragraph mini story, but don't dare drop a few sentences alone either. Be reasonable. 

Please don't post something cliffhanger-y if you know you will not be posting for a long time. Also if you disappear for a few days without notice and it affects the flow of the RP, I will have to either kill off your character or retcon it out.

Also don't be unnecessarily wordy. If a few words get the meaning through, please do that.
