Broad shoulders, above average height, and a thick build draw the eyes of those around. Exotic features such as a mane of white hair that falls to his lower back and blood red eyes then hold their attention. Yet despite his size he seems to move with a certain inhuman grace that lets him flit through a crowd rather than push his way through. When tapping into his full capabilities, a skeletal creature appears around his neck like a collar. The head extends down to cover his hand with its spine coiling around his arm. The ends of his hair turn into bony tips that move about on their own, his eyes gain a dull glow, his hands are almost skeletal and end in claws rather than nails. It'll get edgier... maybe. Name: Koga Cao, “Kocao” Age: Looks to be early twenties. Gender: Male Nationality: Somewhere from East Asia probably. Allegiance: Formerly Magi College, now an independent. Notable Traits As if his hair isn’t unusual enough, there are two clumps that seem to resemble ears at the top. The fact that his hair appears to twitch occasionally has to be a trick of the light though… For his age, he was a rather skilled artisan of Channels. Yet without the tools and workshops of the College coupled with the crippling of his Lacrima Control, Koga’s basically limited to maintenance. An invaluable skill nonetheless given he already has his own pair of Channels. A Beast hybrid, Koga is no longer fully human. Capable of feats that would injure others if they attempted such things with limited regeneration for those that strain even his inhuman body. These traits are further heightened at the cost of Beast characteristics appearing. In this form he gains the ability to consume Beasts that have been weakened. While the new material is integrated into his body he cannot revert to his human appearance. If in a place untouched by man, Koga is also capable of entering a meditative state where he taps into the world’s leylines. The weakening boundaries are something his inhuman nature can perceive and is naturally attracted to. Flaws Curiosity didn’t quite kill the cat, but it did change Koga enough that he’s essentially on the run from most Magi. While not too interested in Magery, he finds Beasts and Reality Convergences fascinating, and said interest has only increased after the change. Even if they’re one of the most dangerous areas for an existence like him, he finds himself compelled to investigate. Barely passable as a Magi anymore given the state of his Lacrima Control after the changes to his body. They’d probably be ranked at a dead F, but he hasn’t really been able to properly gauge it since the incident. Becomes more irritable if his surroundings are all artificial and man-made as his Beast nature is agitated. If forced to reside within a modern city for extended periods of time, Koga can actually become enraged and lash out indiscriminately until he’s able to flee to less touched areas. Channel: Wields a pair of gunblades. Function as machine pistols in their firearm state. Add on Koga’s relatively bad marksmanship and they're mostly used to make opponents duck heads as he closes in the distance. Inventory: Carries a fairly large pack filled with survival gear and equipment given he lives off the grid for the most part. Also has a bag that holds the supplies and tools required for maintenance of Channels. History: As a member of the College, Koga was always more of a craftsman than a Magi or scientist. His Lacrima Control was actually below average, so R&D in Magery never came to easily to him. Instead his attention was mostly spent focused towards Channels and the Beasts that Magi fought against. A steady hand and eye for detail allowed him to gain apprenticeship in the Workshops that produced equipment fairly easily and it was there that he spent a good few years to hone his abilities. In what spare time he had during his stay, Koga found an interest in the creatures that crawled into this world from others. So when a Reality Convergence occurred his inquisitive nature naturally drew him to investigate. While other Magi fought either the Beasts that broke through the weakened boundary or each other for control of the immense power that was present, Koga simply watched and observed from the sidelines. What ultimately drew him closer was the presence of an interesting Beast specimen. It was restless yet never moved more than a set distance from where it had clawed its way into this world. When he finally worked up the courage to approach the Beast proved to be intelligent enough to hold conversation and even seemed amiable in spite of its inhuman nature. They conversed briefly before the creature expressed its desire to leave and see the world it had broken through to. In order to do so it would need a body to anchor itself to in this world, one that Koga could provide if he chose to. It was an interesting proposition to be sure and eventually he gave into his curiosity and agreed. The skeletal creature wrapped itself around his offered arm and clamped down tightly; bones sinking into his skin as the two began to merge. It took a while before Koga could actually move again thanks to the crippling pain, but at first there wasn’t any real noticeable change. He could recall that his personality was definitely different prior to the event as well as an influx of memories that hadn’t previously existed, but physically he was no different. Those changes would come gradually and give him enough time to return to the College and deal with business. By the time his hair began to turn white, he would have left the College with all what belongings mattered and cut all ties. Since then he’s been a reclusive nomad, journeying from one Reality Convergence to the next. Run ins with other Magi are rare occurrences, but not completely unknown to him. As of yet he doesn’t believe his nature as a Hybrid has been discovered, but continues to be cautious and wary when in the presence of others. Personality: The best word to encapsulate Koga at the moment would be mellow. Each decision is weighed and measured, his previous impulsive nature tempered by the merge. Though his voice is soft, confidence fills each and every word that leaves his lips. This same sort of decisiveness backs each of his actions and thus it can be hard to sway Koga from his chosen path; his isolated nature doesn’t make it any easier to convince him either. When something does manage to catch his attention, certain traits of his original personality tend to become more prominent. In dealing with Beasts or Channels, he’s certainly more excitable and animated, willing to speak more freely. In battle he’s surprisingly ferocious and displays little restraint in crushing his opponents in a speedy and brutal fashion. Motivation: Curiosity and interest drive Koga to seek out and interact with the Beasts that appear during a Reality Convergence. Hunger and a need for sustenance requires that he hunt at least some of these otherworldly creatures on occasion. Survival is also a pretty good motivator and there’s plenty of threats towards Koga given his unique situation. Character Goals: Wishes to learn more about the reasoning and thoughts behind the various Beasts that crawl into this world during Convergences. For those that can’t be interacted with in a meaningful manner and prove to be dangerous, he tries to hunt and assimilate. Likes it when Convergences are left to calm down by themselves and will make an effort to disrupt those who might try to harness the immense latent energy.
