Shouken had anticipated the speed of the Uchiha but not the Hyuga techniques. Shouken was usually intimidated by the Hyuga clan seeing as how they're masters of close combat fighting styles and Shouken was far from it. Upon realizing Saburo's 'attack', Shouken, in a sloppy fashion, performed a side flip over the open palm of Saburo. He landed clumsily, however, immediately hopped back a few meters to create some range. 

Shouken was unsure of Saburo's intentions, but could tell by the look of his gaze that this was about to get interesting. The Washi sheathed his weapon and stood in an upright stance. He knew Saburo would waste little time and realized he had little to waste as well. Shouken joined his hands as he still stood upon the water. Saburo muttered his challenge and after a series of hand signals, the boy replied,

[color=mediumslateblue]"Water Release: Snake's Mouth!" [/color]

Shouken placed his palm on the water which was followed by the emergence of a great watery serpent sent upon Saburo. After he released his jutsu, Shouken drew his blade, preparing for an up in close retaliation if necessary. His chakra was drained at this point and even holding himself above water was a challenge. Realizing this, Shouken leapt to a small tree that had stood at water's edge, farther back from Saburo and the serpent.
