A pathogen highly contagious and all but undetectable enter earth’s atmosphere. It seeped into all of creation -- invisible, odorless, and tasteless -- it tainted all. By the time patient zero felt the first sore throat millions of people were already infected. The pathogen gave way to the widespread outbreak of an unknown disease. Millions were infected within a single day after coming in contact with the contaminated. After 24hr, thousands of people had checked into hospitals across the nation, many of which were already past capacity and unable to assist the sick. They complained of intense pain, migraines and hallucinations and some began to exhibit mild bouts of violence. It wasn't until a patient killed a nurse and attempted to eat her flesh that people began to realize what they were dealing with. What followed soon after was the swift collapse of our society. Within a few weeks, quarantined zones took over major cities and transportation to and from was shut down. Power went out, supply was lost, men and women who were sworn to protect were no where to be found. By week four, everyone had taken to looting and killing as they established the new rule of survival of the fittest. This was the onset of the walking dead. Welcome! By now you should know that this is a Walking Dead Roleplay based on the new series. If you haven’t heard, the new series follows the drama of the unfolding events of the onset of the outbreak. We’ll relive the events that lead to the breakdown of society as a whole. You probably remember the first episode, when Rick Grimes is shot and then wakes up from a coma five weeks later? Well, our timeline, our characters, our roleplay takes place during those five weeks. I won’t be explaining the virus, I think the mystery of the virus will remain as close to the series as possible. My role is to play the government, the CDC, FEMA, and the entities of authority trying to contain the situation. I will be the news and your source of information regarding all things government. But, though the government is functioning at the start of our RP, it will not be consistent. Because this is not about them, it is about the people. You, will play as the people living in New York City, telling the story from their perspective, as society crumbles and a forced evolution begins to take hold - survival of the fittest (mentality). As the the story progresses it will be my job to dip my hand into your story at any time to mix things up. For example, while you control what your character sees and does in regards to where they are and the environment, I may jump in and add a little extra something to help move you along in a certain direction. I maybe have an infected jump out at a player if they’re exploring the empty shelves of a store or sneaking down a dark and quiet hallway. I maybe provide supplies through FEMA drops, or have your character find ammo, food, weapons or other goodies. All characters live in the island of manhattan, where we begin our story. I will be providing a google map of the city so that we all have an idea of locations and places as we move along. Please use real names of streets and buildings so the rest of us can properly orientate where you're character is at. Our game begins in day one of week one (see timetable below). I will be posting about events happening in the city that will affect your character, things that you will have no control over, but can avoid or work around in order to surpass them - these are the obstacles that will challenge your characters. From the timetable below, you get the general idea of the direction I will be taking you. Week One – Hospitals reached capacity. And the panic begun. Week Two – Quarantine zones were established, resources were rationed, and transports come to a close. Week Three – International trade discontinued. Oil wells dried up. And the stock market collapsed. Week Four – Power failed, store shelves emptied, and the water tap ran dry. Hunger and despair set in. Week Five – Chaos. Rules -This Roleplay is Advance. I trust that everyone here is familiar with this rule. A few errors may be overlooked but please remember to proofread your posts. -If any romance occurs during this game, please keep things PG-13. -That being said, oddly enough, the use of strong language is allowed. (We are playing Newyorkers after all ^.^) -There will be no God-Modding, Power-Playing, or Meta-Gaming. -While I’ve placed regulations on what a player can and cannot carry on their characters and how much ammo they start with, there will be no counters, markers, etc., keeping track of what they have left. It is up to each of you to play your characters accordingly expressing when they've run out of ammo and when their looting for more. The same goes for food and water. -Please be courteous and respectful to players in the OOC regardless of the way events unfold IC. Drama in both threads are to remain separated. For the time being feel free to post them in the OOC for review.
Appearance: Picture or description. No anime photos please. Name: Real or nick. Whichever your character will introduce themselves as. Age: Any appropriate age. Profession: What kind of job do they have or if your character is a student it goes here. Bio: This section does not need to be a short story. A simple biography that is well written and tells the character's history up to this point in time sufficiently enough will be accepted. It is entirely fine with me if you intend to reveal a backstory IC and elect to leave this section relatively vague. Inventory: The inventory doesn’t come into play right away, but I want you to fill one out so that I have an idea of what your character will carry. I may have them find the items at some point during the story. Item Item Item x(Number amount e.g. x10) Keep in mind that you can't carry an infinite amount of ammo, tools, etc. All backpacks have a limit. I'll leave it up to you to judge what your character can and cannot carry. In addition to food, water and other equipment you will be listing here, please list valuable belongings as well. Firearms: Everyone is only allowed to carry one primary and one secondary along with a melee weapon. But you will not necessarily have firearms at the start of our roleplay. If you do, make sure there is a legal reason for you to have a firearm on your person, and if so it can only be one weapon. Primary goes here. Secondary goes here. Additional Notes: Anything else you want me to know about your character will go here including personality, quirks, astral sign, the kind of music they like to listen to. This is entirely optional. The information provided in this section will most likely not have an effect on the game and is usually introduced IC when it's necessary to share such knowledge. Sample Post: Because this CS isn't strict on providing heavily laden information and to make sure all players who apply can and will abide to Advance roleplay guidelines, I ask that you submit a sample of your writing skills. For this submission you will write a routine day of your character in NYC, of his life, and include a conversation with someone about the hot topic, the rumors, or the news that people are getting sick. At this point nobody knows what is going on only that something is going on.
