Time flies when idle hands are turned to work, something Johnny was finding himself enjoying as he went on. As the Gems helped so did Johnny, becoming synonymous with them as the reconstruction came to a close. With his blood, sweat, and tears Johnny planted a seed in the town which tethered him to the spot. The one time he tried to leave had him driving back on the third day. The town, its people, and the Gems had sunk their claws into Johnny's heart and he was here to stay for the long haul. With giving up his nomadic lifestyle brought unforeseen consequences, like how he was going to fill his time. Being stationary meant he could no longer fill long stretches of the day with driving across the country, which proved a problem for the restless soul. He tried playing his guitars for hours then switched to hiking when he feared carpel tunnel was about to come knocking. Eventually he had to give up hiking as well as he was burning through his clothes faster than he could clean. One after another he tried different things, each having its own issue that forced Johnny to give it up. That is until he found a job. As it turns out, giant laser beams are enough to cause people to leave forever. Because of this fact, the "Bee and Bard" diner was understaffed and in need of a waiter. Johnny coincidently fit the bill for a good waiter, friendly, attentive, and a good enough multi-tasker to not accidentally put mustard in your coffee. It didn't pay all that much but it allowed Johnny to fill the time and to learn about a bit about the people of Mohs town. Punching out for the day, Johnny hung up his apron and left for some wandering. Halloween was coming up, a day of magic and monsters to most but to Johnny it held a more personal meaning. The day prior would be his birthday which meant he would have been on this wonderful planet for a full twenty two years, God he never felt as young or as old when his birthday came around. Must be the weather. Walking through the town, Johnny's thoughts turned to his newfound friends. He worried about all of them, the danger they were in for just existing had kept him up some nights at the unfairness of it all. Sodalite was watched more carefully than most, Eves' abandonment had affected the poor thing something fierce. Aquamarine was more or less the same, always the matronly glue holding the chromatic bunch of misfits together. Amber and Emerald were both odd in their own ways, but they were friendly enough. The others, Zircon and Spinel, were less well known known by Johnny but he cared nonetheless. Soon enough Johnny found himself at The Van and with nothing better to do decided it was as good a time as any to bust out the guitar. "Today is an acoustic kind of day." he thought to himself as he tuned the old girl down a bit before beginning a soft tune, something like a lullaby in intensity. A smile graced his lips as the sound flowed through the air, today was a good day.
