Greater Newfoundland (The Sovereign Dominion of Newfoundland), popped into existence and replaced the territory that was once Canadian with the territory that was theirs in their previous world. The Canadian people are pissed because they see it as some sort of invasion.

Or at least that's what I'm guessing.
