As Alex listened to the PA system play one of his playlists he felt more in control than ever before. When he previously listened with headphones on Alex felt comforted, like a warm blanket on a cold winter’s day. This omnidirectional soundscape felt like a warm day at the beach with the money to buy all the ice-cream you want. Getting up Alex stretched and wondered what to do next Well I better help the student council, they'll find my player eventually. With or without my help walking with a more confident stride Alex disassembled the remote in his pocket, removing the batteries and dropping them to the ground before lightly kicking them down a gutter. Removing the microchip and wire guts of the remote and tying them in a handkerchief before entering the deserted men’s room, crushing the little package underfoot. After flushing the fragments down the toilet Alex exited the men’s room wondering what to do with the remote’s cracked shell. For a moment Alex absolutely relished the music surrounding him, forgetting where he was as the track changed. Mustn't be on shuffle then. as he broke the remote’s shell in half dropping one of the half’s in a nearby bin. The other half entered a storm drain. Alex made a beeline for the student council reception, regaining his natural timidness with each step. Once outside Alex was the perfect image of a terrified student, it was a good disguise because he wasn’t acting. Entering the reception area and walking to the desk Alex looked like a deer in headlights. Hands shaking he tapped the little bell to get the receptionist’s attention. “Umm, excuse me, but the... the music? I think it’s coming from my misplaced music player? I recognise the playlist. It’s my Dad’s.” The receptionist got a stony look on their face and said for Alex to take a seat. Hearing the song come to a close he called out “If I’m right the next song will be Love in an Elevator!” It wasn’t really a surprise to Alex, but the receptionist seemed a bit spooked by it and immediately went to call a member of the student council.
