After Edward proposes to Winry and he has boarded the train. He hears Truth's voice in his head, making him an offer. He will get his leg and alchemy back, if he goes to another world and assists the inhabitants.

Finding himself before the gate once more, Truth shows him visions of the person he will first encounter: Bruce Wayne aka Batman. Alphonse is teleported to Truth's domain alongside Ed. Truth says he will allow Al to accompany Ed to keep the elder Elric company.

Truth tells them that time will pass for the DC Universe, but will not have in Amestris when they return. When Ed and Alphonse arrive in Gotham, Ed will have his leg and alchemy powers returned, but Truth reminds him they can be taken away just as easily.
