As the third son of Austrian Gentry, Günther stood to inherit little from his parents and likewise was sent away to become a knight under Ritter Lornz Gudferdscht, who gave him the training to receive the village of Drosendorf as a fief, becoming Herr Günther von Drosendorf. Slowly during his time as a vassal to Graf Michel von Dobersberg, he began to rise up the ranks of the court.
