It was not a lie, for he could not leave for the next 24 hours but after that, Meliae could release him from her service if she so chooses. However she'd rather not, especially not to the Hermit who was so disrespectful towards her. He could never go back to being a mortal human, it was best he stay in a court until he was much older as without the Courts protection he would surely die. The rock was old, and some had a modicum of respect for him.
