Someone is casting shade. I'm interested, regardless. Sounds generic, but I'd be interested in playing a Nord privateer. Not enough of the seafaring culture of the Nords is really shown in the games, and I'd like to work with that aspect of them.
I won't name names, but I see plenty of people participating in Advanced roleplays these days that would not have been accepted a few years ago. I don't think Advanced should be some kind of inaccessible bastion reserved only for the elite, but when it starts to look like a slightly more verbose Casual, I think people are missing the point. As for your character idea, I like it. Maritime travel is a little difficult in large portions of Tamriel, but if we ever need to sail to Vvardenfell or whatever, your character would give us that option.
I was thinking of making a cautious Dunmer scholar who has an interest in metaphysics but has to do odd jobs and rely on his sword arm for money, being rather magickally inept. He'd also be somewhat fond of smoking skooma.
Splendid character concept. I assume you mean the Dwarven concept of metaphysics? One thing to note, though: skooma is a liquid substance distilled from moon sugar. You could probably smoke moon sugar, but not skooma.
[@Hank] Hm, I was thinking maybe a bandit turned adventurer after the loss of his daughter and wife for me.
I don't really follow this train of thought. He's an outlaw while he has a wife and daughter, and turns to a life (perhaps marginally) more inside the boundaries of the law after they die?
