I actually had a weird dream about that the other night just after I read this post. 

And anyway (just out of curiosity), and since someone mentioned the Romans and Dwarfish Communism earlier - what time would this world be at that would be similar to that to our own? Classical Antiquity? Medieval (early, middle, late)? Renaissance?... Baroque?
