He was never in a shell. No one really interacted with him all that much. Then again in the same vein he doesn't care and does his own thing often.

Unlike a lot of characters here, he's been through enough that he's a whole person when he entered Beacon, he doesn't have any outstanding issues with his past or his own beliefs.
